About GCBA
The Global College of Body Art is Sydney’s premier training institute in body painting, face painting and special effects for body art. Created to meet the growing demand for highly skilled, highly trained bodypainters here in Australia and internationally, we run short workshops and longer certificate courses in body art, beginners and advanced face painting and special effects.
Award-Winning Teachers
Our lessons are all taught by multi award-winning face and body artist Julie Tattam, who also runs sought-after Sydney body painting agency Skincognito Bodypainting.
Mentoring and Career Opportunities
At GCBA, we offer more than just knowledge. We know that these days becoming a successful artist takes more than just lots of skill and talent – it takes exposure, opportunity, media attention and connections. Therefore, in addition to our intense, comprehensive training, GCBA students have access to career opportunities which are unavailable anywhere else. Julie is committed to mentoring her students with the view to potential future employment of talented students within her agency. As of 2015, Skincognito will not offer positions or work experience to anyone unless they have completed a GCBA class (with a couple of exceptions for well-established body artists whose work we are familiar with).
We have trained over 600 artists!
GCBA has been successfully offering short courses in face painting, body painting and special effects under its previous name of “Making Faces” for over 7 years. The new entity Global College of Body Art was opened in 2014 with the aim of additionally offering a longer, more comprehensive 16-week Certificate course in Body Painting. However our well-respected face painting and special effects short courses (one and two days in length) are still a key part of what we offer.

Our brand new state-of- the-art training facility and studio is located in Grays Point NSW (45mins south of the Sydney CBD). There is plenty of free parking and the college is 5 minutes by taxi from Gymea train station.

Classes Offered
- Certificate of Body Art (16 weeks part time course)
- Certificate of Face Painting (2 day course)
- Face Painting Day One: Beginners and Intermediate (one day workshop)
- Face Painting Day Two: Advanced and One Stroke (one day workshop)
- Halloween Special Effects (one evening class)
Do I need to already be able to paint?
No, not at all! Our classes are tailored to cater to all levels of artistic ability, and are suitable for all levels from the absolute beginner (our Day One Classes) to painters who would like to take their art to the next level.
Our Certificate of Body Art classes are suitable for all levels of ability, and no prerequisite is required. (Prior attendance of Face Painting Day One would be a significant advantage, but not a requirement).
Our Special Effects classes require no prior knowledge. All special effects materials will be provided. Our minimum age for all classes is 16yrs.
